Who we are

Edemel Learning Foundation is a legally registered nonprofit (Registration No: 80034719620675) under the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), operating as a company limited by guarantee. Based in Eastern Uganda, we work to eliminate educational inequity by empowering marginalized communities especially girls, youth, and adolescent mothers through inclusive and community-led learning solutions. Our work spans 11 districts, focusing on gender rights, youth empowerment, climate resilience, and public health awareness.

Mission Statement:

Our mission is to transform rural Eastern Ugandan communities through innovative, accessible, and equitable education. Driven by the belief that education is the most powerful tool for social change, we seek to end cycles of poverty, promote gender equality, and equip youth, women, and marginalized groups with skills and opportunities to thrive. We empower grassroots transformation by integrating lifelong learning with community-based solutions, ranging from gender-responsive education and e-learning to climate resilience, youth leadership, and economic empowerment through initiatives like our Goat Revolving Project.

Our Philosophy

At Edemel Learning Foundation, we believe education is a powerful tool for transforming lives and communities. Our commitment is rooted in advancing gender equality and rights, promoting climate-resilient practices, and addressing urgent health challenges affecting young people in Uganda including the rising burden of HIV and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, hypertension, and cancers.

We use inclusive, innovative, and community-led learning approaches to equip youth, girls, and teen mothers with the knowledge and skills to lead healthier, more empowered lives. By integrating NCD awareness into our programs at the community level, we are building resilience, fostering agency, and driving holistic, sustainable development across generations.

We work closely with local governments and communities to ensure that every child has access to quality education, aiming to bridge the gap in educational disparities and empower future generations with the tools they need to succeed.
